Date Night

When was the last time you had a date night? The other night was awesome! We have had so many changes going on in our lives lately....moving, getting settled, moving again, getting settled, out-of-towner visits (which we LOVE!!!)...so, we can say we've had a lot going on. :) Since we've been married, we've tried to make it a point to have two date nights a week, and if not, at LEAST one. We don't necessarily go "out" like to a movie or dinner and always spend tons of money....let's say we've made it a point to be together on purpose! :) We would either be making dinner together, play a game, watch a movie (again, and again...and I say, again!), taking a walk around the apt. complex (in AZ-which I seriously miss the beautiful pool and fountains, green grassy areas) or streets....anyway, we'd spend time together on purpose.

Since we've moved to Washington, we really haven't had much time to enjoy each other's company, alone. :) We've been really busy. We did make it to Seattle for a quick one night trip to "escape" the madness and make some decisions about our situations and our future....and then shortly thereafter we moved again.....and we've had some family in town, fun times....but we really haven't had "quality" time together. I know, it's wierd. We live together, we see each other every day, we sleep in the same bed......but we haven't "dated".

As we've been getting settled this last time, (it's for good for a while), we have talked a lot about our dreams and plans and desires for our life. We want to be successful in our marriage, in our careers, have a family and our OWN home....we've talked about the stresses (and dealt with the stresses) and I think through all of this, we have quietly made an effort to enjoy each other. I think we have on our own, without discussing it, realized how important "WE" are. I've noticed a change in our communication, a free "upgrade" in our marriage.....We have this non-verbal communication that is taking place in our love life, our marrage, that says "I need you, I love you, I appreciate you!" We are a team and it feels more like a team than ever before! :) We are bonded and are only getting stronger!

This great date night we walked down to the boardwalk. You can see it from our house....and we haven't gone down yet to walk it and really see what's there. The city of Bremerton is really making some changes and has a lot of plans for the future. It's becoming more beautiful every day. We decided yesterday that we want to buy our place that we have now and make it "ours"....so, we'll see in a year what we can do about that! :) They just opened a park this weekend.....it's beautiful! It has water fountains that "dance" or "explode", wading areas, tables for picnics, etc....as we were walking through it we were amazed at how awesome it was and how great the environment was...relaxing and fun. There were families enjoying each other, children giggling...it really felt like I was walking through a scene in a movie.

On our way home, we decided to finally get on our beach! There really isn't a place to get down to it, so we crossed some "NO TRESPASSING" signs next door (condemned house; yeah, lovely I know.) and got down there. We walked along the beach! How cool is that?!!! :) It's not the greatest of beaches...but it's OUR beach! :) hee hee. No more trespassing though. That was pretty questionable. Rotting wood stairs....yeah, I know, no more. :) Anyway, we got home and BBQ'd. We hung out together like it was summer and we were kids. It was great! I'm so glad I have forever to be with my best friend!!!

When was the last time you went on a date and had some extra FUN???!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!

Mom,

Happy Mother's Day! I love you SO much! Thank you for being the greatest mom! Your 'momness' has blossomed into a very cherished friendship. You are one of my best friends and I love hanging out with you and doing silly things!

I still remember one time when I was in high shool and we were driving home from a track meet. For some reason, you slowed down for no reason...there were no cars in front of us. I asked what you you were doing and I realized as I looked my right...in the other lane. There was a school bus FULL of boys coming home from a game or something. You would not speed up as we drove alongside them for a mile or so giggling our guts out! I was SO embarrassed!

I also remember whenever we were in church...you would get the tic tacs out or gum and crinkle, crinkle, crinkle. You would eat one piece for only a minute and get another one, totally eating a whole pack in one service......oh, you would also get me laughing...and then you would start laughing...and then we both couldn't stop! We practically got kicked out of church every week!!! Oh, wait....you still make me laugh in church!

I want you to know how much I LOVE YOU and how much I appreciate your AWESOME 'momness'!!!

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Housewarming BBQ!

Check this out! Isn't this beautiful?!!! We are so blessed to have gotten a BBQ from mom and dad Vosburgh! I think we should have a housewarming PARTAY!!! This BBQ is seriously awesome....there are so many features! It has a rotissore for chicken (Matt thinks we are going to get a piggy up there but I'm fighting against it!), a place for veggies or beverages to be stored on ice, an extra burner/area to cook with a pan, a warming area, and a place for spices to be stored or towels to hang....really, it's great! It really is the best thing out there to have in a place like we are in....so you can have a BBQ on the beach! Yup, that's right folks, I said it....if you lived closer, you would be invited too! :) Actually, we do invite you...just let us know when you will be arriving...! :) Anyway, we are thrilled to have such a great BBQ and can't wait to have you over! So, here are some pics of Matt getting it ready to grill (putting it together!) and then there are some of me weed-wacking the grass....I was so excited to finally have a way to cut the grass that I just had to do it, later realizing that it's not my favorite thing to do.....seriously, my arms were still vibrating for like 2 hours after!

History in Seattle

A few weekends ago, dad Vosburgh came up to WA and took us took us to Seattle for a few days! It was SO MUCH FUN!! We stayed at The Westin...which was AWESOME!
Matt and I got up super early (not really) on Sat. morning and walked down to the ferry; yes, we walked! When we arrived in Seattle (where we met dad) with our suitcases we were greeted with love and flowers! :) Let me tell you, that's the life! Two boquets, yes, 2! :) Anyway, we promptly dropped our luggage off at the hotel (NICE!) and started our history tour of Seattle! You see, Matt was born in Seattle 31 years ago! So, he has some history! We drove by the hospital where he was born, took some pictures of course!
Oh, wait, the first thing we did was go the 13 Coins. It is a restaurant (it's been around for YEARS) where we ate a scrumptious breakfast. Of course, we got a few stories in there....it's open 24 hours a day....oh, and they apparently haven't changed a thing with it's decor! :)...so we hear.
We also drove up to the house where Matt lived for the first year of his life! There was a guy outside moving the lawn (electrical mower, poor guy) and we stopped to talk with him for a minute, and believe it or not, he let us go inside and check it out! That was really cool for M to be able to see something he has only heard about for so long! It was an itty bitty house!
That night we went to the Space Needle for dinner at the revolving restaurant! That was so great! Delicious food and amazing view! As we saw the city so high up, Matt's dad was able to point things out and give us the history and stories! It was really cool!
Sunday morning...you'll never guess. We went to Queen Anne Baptist Church where Matt went and spent much time in the nursery! His dad recognized a few people there who still go to the same church (30+ years!!! WOW!). It's funny, but Matt looks like his dad did 31 years ago so that was pretty hilarios because people were recognizing his dad through Matt....you get it? :) Funny, hu?
Do you think you've had the best hamburger or cheesburger in the world??!!! Well you probably haven't unless you've gone to Frisko Freeze. That place is still around and looks exactly the same, they say! This seemed to be the highlight for the boys. :) It's food, you know? What can you say? Anyway, I was wondering what the deal was, but I do agree, the burgers are pretty good! They seem so basic, but they really do taste delicious, and I'm not the biggest fan of meat! There was something about the malt shakes too....!
We will have more pics posted on our photo page in a new album so you can see more of the fun!
We had so much fun this great weekend in Seattle! What a fun time! Thank you SO MUCH dad!!!
